Low Vision
Our low vision program emphasizes improved quality of life with clients that struggle with their low vision. An occupational therapist provides education and materials to provide a more functional setting to the client so they can continue to live as independent as possible and as long as possible.
Wellness
Wellness topics are provided as well at the senior living communities. Some examples of topics include:
- proper shoe wear
- diabetic education
- dietary education
- elder law
- fall prevention
- mental health awareness
- scooter/power wheelchair safety
- insurance coverage for home health.
Specific speakers are arranged that specialize in these areas.
Fall Prevention
Fall prevention is largely emphasized with our focus of prevention. Community Home Health offers computerized balance screens free to the residents and/or clients to provide an objective measure of their balance. This screen is done by a physical therapist so that a skilled clinician is providing professional care and advice. This is provided on a regular basis to show improvement hopefully or if not improvement then the client is given specific instructions to improve.
Home Safety Screening
To continue with our focus of prevention we also offer free home safety screens upon moving in to a new place. Our Occupational Therapist will look to be sure furniture is placed properly and observe to see if there is any safety concerns to be addressed.
